The many jobs of a biologist at the Aquarium! | The Florida Aquarium

Spokane-area district fish biologist Randy recently saw something interesting at Horseshoe Lake in Spokane County. Bullhead catfish fry often travel in large cloud-like schools of thousands of fish. Randy was sampling late last week at Horseshoe when he saw this dark mass of fry (a literal ball of fish) near the shore. Parent bullheads swim around their young in circles to keep them in these schools so they are less likely to become a snack for a predator. | Washington Department of Fish & Wildl
