Yesterday, Prince William of Wales visited the quarters of Engine 10 Ladder 10 in Manhattan. FDNY members showed the Prince some of the memorials in and outside of the firehouse, which pay tribute to our fallen members. Then they sat at the kitchen table and discussed the importance of mental health in the first responder community. Yesterday, FDNY Lieutenant Adrienne Walsh of Rescue Company 1 retired after 26 years of service. Lieutenant Walsh was appointed as a Firefighter in 1997 and assigned to Engine Company 226 in Brooklyn. On 9/11/01 she responded with Ladder 20 to the World Trade Center attacks, and worked at the site in the days, weeks and months that followed. She became a member of Squad 18 in 2003, and in 2005 was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2008, she returned to Squad 18 and in 2018 she was assigned to Rescue 1,

At 3:05 pm today, Engine 246, Ladder 161, and Ladder 169 responded to Emmons Avenue at 23rd Street for a report of two people in the water in Sheepshead Bay. They were clinging to a dinghy that was sinking. L-161 and L-169 both deployed rescue swimmers, Firefighters Dan Palmieri and Matt Paz, who swam to the two victims in the water. Using a surfboard, they were pulled to shore. A third person who had jumped into the water to help the other two, was rescued by Marine 9 with the help of NYPD. All
