The Kayan women of Myanmar wear brass rings around their necks as traditional cultural practice. Additional rings are added each year, and gradually these rings elongate the neck. I’m submitting this piece for a group exhibition in Dortmund this September. The theme of the show is ‘extreme’ and so, as a painter of people, I instantly thought of body modification.
