There's this incredible castle in Aberdeenshire that I've always loved visiting. It's called Huntly Castle, and it's got such a fascinating history. The place has been around since the 12th century, originally as a wooden motte-and-bailey fortress before being rebuilt in stone. What makes Huntly Castle really stand out are the intricate carvings and inscriptions all over the walls. The stonework is so detailed; it’s like the building itself is telling you a story. Historic Braemar Castle along the A92 North East 250 route through Deeside in Aberdeenshire and the Cairngorms National Park, with its star shaped defensive wall. The Castle is community run and fundraising is ongoing to repair the harling, improve the grounds and build a Visitor Centre with 21st century facilities.
