How do you figure out a Bighorn sheep’s age? No, this isn’t a setup for a punchline – you can determine a Bighorn Sheep’s age from its horns! As the sheep ages, its horns grow in layers creating dark bands that can be identified similar to counting the rings on a tree. Each of these bands represent about a year’s worth of growth, so by counting this horn’s bands we can see the sheep was about 5 years old.
