The bighorn sheep rut (mating season) is nearly here. During the rut, which typically spans from mid-to-late November through January, rams (males) will battle for ewes (females) and, well, ram each other headlong in a display of dominance. When they do this, they can crash into each other at speeds of up to 40 mph and the crack of their head-on-head collision can sometimes be heard up to one mile away!
