I just watched the trailer for Kingdom Come Deliverance II and was wondering if the 1st game is necessary to play the 2nd. Obviously the game has not come out yet, but story wise is playing the first necessary to like the 2nd or could I jump right in to the 2nd and enjoy it?

If you mean gameplay wise, we can't really be sure until KCD 2 comes out. It's not impossible that some players would end up preferring the final balance of KCD 1's gameplay to KCD 2's gameplay. Plot wise, there will certainly be one or two big plot twists from KCD 1 that will be spoiled if you start in KCD 2.

That being said, the only game I've ever pre-ordered is Red dead redemption 2 and considering that kcd ranks above rdr2 in my favourite games list I'm faithful it will deliver. Worse case It'll be like the og and just be buggy upon release but get fixed as time goes on but we'll see.

Kingdom come Deliverance is surprisingly very story focused, imo witcher level quality overall if you can get pass the first adaptation period. If you wanna play a game where it is story driven and open world as a good example, go for KC. If you wanna cut hundreds of people and run for your own kingdom etc, go for Bannerlord.
