Oct 23, 2023 · My trunk was nasty enough that both sides were coated with POR15. Inside trunk in gray and underneath in black. The gray POR isn't a bad base coat. Once a trunk leak got the AC splatter paint wet so it wiped right off, I almost left the trunk in bare non-top coated POR15. I HATED covering it in AC Delco splatter paint. That stuff is utter crap.

Mar 5, 2009 · In my car, the original trunk paint is completely flat and has relatively big "spatters". It couldn't have taken the (right-handed) guy more than a few seconds to spray the trunk, and he made no effort to get the entire area behind the hinges. Zolatone, at least the trunks I've seen, has too much texture. Original spatter paint lays flat.

John recommended a Duplicolor laquer trunk paint. Duplicolor markets it boldly labeled as Trunk Paint and notes water resistance on the label.

Sep 6, 2011 · Here is my Camaro trunk I sprayed with the paint from Parts Place that does not need to be clear coated. I had a gun with 1.8 tip but it would not spray it so I sprayed it through a drywall texture gun with the smallest tip. Worked out great. My Chevelle trunk I sprayed with the GM rattle can trunk paint and cleared it with satin clear.
