May 8, 2024 · When it comes to the best mountains to climb around Boulder, Colorado, the options are as diverse as they are breathtaking. One standout peak is the iconic Longs Peak, the highest summit in Rocky Mountain National Park. Its dramatic rock faces and challenging routes make it a coveted conquest for experienced climbers.

There are 127 named mountains in Boulder County, a number that does not necessarily include additional peaks that straddle the continental divide and are therefore technically also in the county. In addition to being the highest named mountain in the county, Longs Peak is also the most prominent.
