Modellista has brought an ultra-rugged take on the popular SUV called the Overland Vision Concept to this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The prototype comes loaded with all the off-roading gear and upgrades you can imagine, turning it into the sort of futuristic-looking bruiser you’d expect to see in a sci-fi thriller.

Unlike Toyota Motor North America's own Land Cruiser build that will hit your nostalgic bones, Jeff Westcott went for a hardcore off-roader that's capable of running at speeds on dirt. "The idea was to take a factory production vehicle and turn it into a capable racing machine," said Westcott, owner and builder at Westcott Designs.

Toyota has unveiled a new Land Cruiser concept at SEMA in Las Vegas that harkens back to the open-air FJ40 Land Cruisers of the mid century.

Modellista lists two U.S. distributors: MKS Engineering, Inc. and Tien USA, Inc., both based in California. Its parts are also apparently available through certain California Toyota and Lexus dealers, plus two Toyota dealers near Topeka, Kansas, and Omaha, Nebraska, of all places.

Toyota’s CALTY Design Center “reinvented” more than 50% of the Land Cruiser, especially at the back half, to make the ROX. The second of 10 (10!) concepts Toyota will dribble out in the days before and during SEMA is this, the Land Cruiser ‘ROX,’ or ‘Recreation Open eXperience.’ What is a ROX?
