Two tropical storms have led to deadly inland flooding in the United States already this season, underscoring how dangerous water can be.

Texas Hill Country, where much of the flooding took place this time, is often referred to as “flash flood alley.” It's home to steep terrain and a lack of vegetation that creates a perfect storm for waters to rise quickly.

A July Fourth weekend deluge in Texas caused catastrophic flash flooding that has killed at least 89 people. Texans in Center Point have rallied together to clear up the area and search for those missing.
