Pope Francis rested overnight in the hospital, the Vatican said earlier Sunday, adding that his night "passed peacefully."

Pope Francis remains in critical condition following a prolonged respiratory crisis and while his blood tests show slight improvement in his anemia, his platelet count remains low and he is now is being treated for a slight renal insufficiency.

Thanking the team of doctors looking after him, Pope Francis (88), has asked his well-wishers from around the world to pray for him. He has been in hospital since February 14, and his health condition continues to be critical.
