CHCH News has learned that the Brantford Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) are being sold to Edmonton Oilers star forward Zach Hyman and his family.

According to a report from Hamilton-area news outlet CHCH, Brantford Bulldogs owner Michael Andlauer has sold the team to Zach Hyman and his family. TSN’s Darren Dreger reported that the deal is pending approval from the league’s board of governors,

The OHL says the new ownership group is pursuing a long-term lease agreement with the city that would include plans for a new arena.

Hyman, who plays for the Edmonton Oilers and is in the midst of his 10th NHL season, ushers in a new era of Brantford Bulldogs hockey, purchasing the team from outgoing owner Michael Andlauer, who also serves as majority owner of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators and American Hockey League affiliate the Belleville Senators.
