If Harper lives up to his potential, he can sign an extension with the Spurs that counts up to 25 percent of the $141-million salary cap. If he becomes a truly elite player — i.e., capable of landing on an all-NBA team during his first four years in the league — he can sign one that reaches 30 percent of the cap.
