Jimmy Carter has been remembered at his funeral as a man of “character” and “something of a miracle” with “prophetic” vision.

As the 39th president is eulogized in Washington National Cathedral, Biden tells mourners his long-ago predecessor “taught me ... the strength of character.”

Following the D.C. service and flight to Georgia, Carter’s body will be driven to his hometown of Plains for a private funeral and a procession through downtown Plains, according to organizers. Carter, who served as president from 1977 to 1981, will then be buried next to his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, who died in November 2023.
