On Thursday, the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District said they found mosquitoes in Anoka and Carver counties with West Nile virus.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (CBS-KFGO) – The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District said Thursday that it found mosquitoes in Minnesota’s Anoka and Carver counties with West Nile virus. “The mosquito-borne disease risk tends to elevate as we get late into the summer,” said the district’s Alex Carlson.

The New Mexico Department of Health is urging people to take precautions against the West Nile virus. According to NMDOH, there are no reported cases of West Nile virus so far in New Mexico, but recent rainfall may have left standing water where mosquitoes breed.
