The weather service said some of the storm cells that are moving through the region could bring gusts as high as 60 mph along with large hail, drenching rain and frequent lightning.

At 2:22 p.m. on Thursday, the NWS Blacksburg VA issued an updated severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 3:15 p.m. The warning is for Rockingham, Stokes and Surry counties.

The threat of some isolated to scattered thunderstorms is increasing across our area, especially late Thursday afternoon through around sunset.
