The Jersey Shore lifeguard "talked and joked" with medical staff while they cut the umbrella that had pierced through her body.

A female lifeguard was impaled so deeply with a beach umbrella at the Jersey Shore that it had to be cut into smaller pieces with a saw before she could be taken to the hospital, officials said.
