Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser is suing a sheriff's deputy who Weiser says told ICE officials in an encrypted Signal chat to a woman who was allegedly in the U.S. on an expired visa, in violation of state law.

A Mesa County sheriff’s deputy violated state law when he shared information with federal officials that led to a Utah college student’s immigration arrest last month,

Atty. Gen. Phil Weiser also disclosed that his office is investigating whether other law enforcement officers on a regional drug task force the deputy worked on have been sharing information to help federal agents make immigration arrests.
