An Air India plane with 242 people on board has crashed near a major international airport in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad. Air India, the country’s flagship carrier, confirmed that Flight 171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick was “involved in an accident today after take-off” and offered “full cooperation to the authorities investigating this incident.
