There was a somber gathering just below the Brooklyn Bridge on Wednesday night, as members of the New York Mexican community remembered two sailors who died in last weekend's ship crash.

Mexican Navy Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles said it was too early to determine whether the pilot took appropriate measures.

In 1904, 1,021 people, mostly immigrants, died after a steamboat caught fire in the East River. Their bodies were laid out on a dock called Misery Lane.
