The dominance from the Mets’ starting rotation has been one of MLB’s biggest surprises during the first half of the season. Yet due to injuries, despite the unit holding on to the lowest ERA (3.18) across the league,

New York Mets pitcher Griffin Canning had surgery on to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the season and possibly part of the 2026 season.

Canning suffered the ailment when, after surrendering a batted ball to Atlanta shortstop Nick Allen, he attempted to change directions on the mound so that he could back up third base. He subsequently went down before being aided off the field by the Mets training staff.
