At least eight active wildfires are burning across both states on Monday, some of which have prompted evacuations.

The largest fires in Western North Carolina were the Deep Woods and Black Cove fires in Polk County not far from the S.C.

Wildfires have returned to the Carolinas, prompting another state of emergency, according to officials.

With much of Western North Carolina under moderate drought or abnormally dry conditions, wildfires are burning in the region.
