Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has issued a strong stance on Alexander Isak as the Sweden star's summer transfer saga drags on. Crucially, Howe confirmed to Chronicle Live that there had still not been a formal offer from Liverpool but the player remains back in the UK.

Eddie Howe has admitted that he does not have ‘full control’ over Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United, but reiterated his wish to see the Swedish international remain on Tyneside. Isak did not fly out to Asia with his teammates last week as he stayed at home to nurse a minor thigh injury.

Liverpool have previously communicated their interest in Isak and over doing a deal in the region of £120million.
