Garner won't be the first person to play the Silver Surfer in a live-action film. In 2007's "Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer," the body work of the Surfer was done by Doug Jones while Laurence Fishburne voiced the herald.

Fantastic Four's Julia Garner has addressed the possibility of a Silver Surfer solo movie and teased Shalla-Bal's MCU origin. She will debut as the cosmic herald in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Garner shared new details about her version of the character and expressed strong interest in a standalone project.

Audiences got a first look at Garner as Silver Surfer when the trailer was released last week. It features Garner gliding above the city on her floating surfboard. Before the film, the Emmy Award-winner said she familiarized herself with the "Fantastic Four" and "Silver Surfer" comics.
