The LPD has listed a few rules and regulations for the upcoming Mardi Gras parades, and you should be aware of them before attending parades this year.

Workers will be placing barricades along the 4-mile Mardi Gras parade route in Lafayette as the first parade of the season, the Krewe of Rio, rolls Saturday night.

According to the Krewe's website, all the metered spaces in the Downtown area are free after 5 p.m. on weekday evenings. You can also park in either the Buchanan Street or Vermilion Street parking garage, but remember to get there before 6 p.m. when the roads close.
