Today brings news of a streaming DAC from McIntosh ( recently acquired by Bose ). Ordinarily, I would strip the press release back to bare essentials to present the DS200 in my own words. However, a shoulder injury continues to make typing painful so what follows is McIntosh’s press release copied/pasted word-for-word BUT with all the marketing fluff – as I see it – struck through.

With seamless support for the likes of Spotify, Apple AirPlay 2, Roon Ready, and TIDAL Connect, the DS200 is certainly more than capable of streaming playlists during gatherings or parties. It looks good too.

So what about this quality that McIntosh promises? Inside is a quad balanced 8-channel, 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) which McIntosh claims delivers a "huge dynamic range and low distortion", aiming to deliver "superior sound reproduction" from your digital music library.
