Wisconsin held Nebraska to its lowest point total (55) since a Dec. 7 loss to Michigan State (52). That performance raised the Badgers’ KenPom defensive efficiency ranking to No. 50 nationally, the highest it’s been all season. That pushed the team’s overall ranking to No. 14.
Wisconsin basketball (16-4, 6-3 Big Ten) rose one spot to No. 17 in the AP Poll following its 83-55 win over Nebraska. The updated ranking reflects the Badgers’ last week of play, which included that win over Nebraska as well as a two-point road loss to UCLA.
The Badgers are now 16-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play. The Badgers dropped a tough game at UCLA to start off the week but came back home and had a dominant showing against Nebraska, defeating the visiting Huskers 83-55 behind 27 points from John Tonje and 17-made three pointers from the team, their second-highest total this season.
Michigan State moved up one spot to No. 7 and was followed by the Vols, who balanced out their close loss to Auburn by beating No. 14 Mississippi State. Marquette and Purdue — which beat then-No. 21 Michigan — rounded out the top 10.
