Dan Osborn, the independent who ran against Deb Fischer in the 2024 General Election announced Tuesday morning that he will run for Senate in the 2026 midterm election. A new report from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s National Drought Mitigation Center states worsening drought is impacting areas worldwide-- and Nebraska isn’t immune.
On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that Osborn, an independent in the 2024 race against Sen. Deb Fischer, will now run against Sen. Pete Ricketts in the 2026 election. Osborn received 436,493 votes in the race against Fischer. He was a political upstart in that race, submitting around 12,500 signatures to appear on the ballot.
Will Coup, a campaign spokesperson for Senator Pete Ricketts, told the Nebraska Examiner: "Senator Ricketts has consistently worked for and voted to secure the border and cut taxes for Nebraska workers, families and seniors. Dan Osborn is bought and paid for by his liberal, out-of-state, coastal donors."
