The Denver Broncos head coach didn’t hold back when reflecting on last season, hinting at a not-so-subtle jab aimed at former quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were aggressive throughout the 2024 offseason when it came to turning over the quarterback room. All three signal-callers that were on the roster throughout the 2023 campaign ended up leaving the Steel City.

Payton benched Wilson in December 2023 to keep the veteran healthy so that Denver could eat the largest dead cap hit in NFL history to show the signal-caller the door last March.

Wilson was benched near the end of the 2023 season with the Broncos and released despite taking on a $85 million hit in dead salary cap money. He signed with the Steelers on a one
