Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury was a popular contender for some head coaching vacancies this offseason, but has decided to return to his post for next season.

Per FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz, Kingsbury has elected to run it back with the Commanders next season following the team's stunningly quick year-over-year turnaround. Washington went from having a 4-13 record in 2023 to reaching the NFC Championship Game roughly 12 months later, partly thanks to the play-caller.

Adam Peters seems to think that the Commanders' offensive coordinator could be in line for another head coaching opportunity sooner rather than later.

Kingsbury declined to conduct any interviews while the Commanders remained in the postseason, where they lost on Sunday to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC championship. The Saints are the only NFL team still seeking to hire a head coach and had requested an interview with Kingsbury that he will not take.

The Texans have requested permission to interview Commanders assistant head coach and offensive pass game coordinator Brian Johnson, Aaron Wilson of KPRC reports.
