Officers were initially dispatched to the 6500 block of Routt Street regarding a call about a shooting. Police ended up in the backyard of a residence in the 3000 block of Forest Ave. and found the man suffering from “gunshot wounds to his upper body/torso,” a news release from the department said.
One person was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff Sunday morning that was connected to a fatal shooting earlier in north Wichita, police said. Police officers heard and responded to gunshots at 9:32 p.m. Saturday in the area of 22nd and Hillside streets near Wichita State University and Wichita police Patrol North substation.
