Last Minute Updates to Second Red Bull Result in Yuki Tsunoda's Best Qualifying Effort with Team
Yuki Tsunoda advanced to Q3 for qualifying for only the second time since joining Red Bull Racing earlier this year. A last-minute push by new team principal Laurent Mekies led to upgrades on the second Red Bull shortly before Tsunoda qualified seventh.
A new Red Bull era begins under Mekies at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. He was appointed after 18 months at Racing Bulls. He worked at Ferrari for five years, as deputy team principal and racing director, and at the F.I.A., which governs Formula 1, for four years, initially as safety director and then deputy race director.
Christian Horner always spoke highly of Arvid Lindblad, the great talent from Red Bull's junior academy. However, following his dismissal as Red Bull Racing's team boss, Horner won't be able to decide if the Brit (18) will make his Grand Prix debut in 2026.
