One of the Iowa Hawkeyes‘ offensive targets is off the board. Iowa was reportedly set to host former Northern Illinois wide receiver Cam Thompson for a visit Jan. 9-10, but that’s off the table following Thompson’s commitment to Mississippi State.

Iowa football is trying to make a splash at quarterback with its pursuit of South Dakota State transfer Mark Gronowski.

Iowa football has one of the most prized quarterbacks in the transfer portal. Mark Gronowski is going to the Big Ten from South Dakota State.

Just as the Iowa Hawkeyes are adding through the portal at the quarterback position, their former quarterbacks are finding new homes. Former Iowa Hawkeyes quarterback Marco Lainez entered the transfer portal at the end of the 2024 regular season and has found his new home.

Iowa football’s quarterback room became a lot more competitive on  Tuesday. South Dakota State quarterback Mark Gronowski will transfer to the Hawkeyes. Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports was first to report the news and Gronowski confirmed via a social media post.

Jeffrey Roberts will have a short trip next year when he moves from the high school football ranks to the college level. Roberts, a junior at Ames High School, committed to Iowa State football to continue his career.
