Two U.S. Park Police officers were justified in pursuing and eventually shooting unarmed motorist Bijan Ghaisar in November 2017, according to a just-released Department of the Interior inspector general’s report.

A new report from the Department of the Interior (DOI) said that two U.S. Park Police (USPP) officers were justified in the killing of Bijan Ghaisar in 2017. The Inspector General said officers followed all but one policy at the time.

Virginia's U.S. Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine condemned Bijan Ghaisar's killing on Tuesday, along with Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Alexandria, Va.

The shooting along the George Washington Memorial Parkway prompted congressional inquiries, agency reforms and litigation.
