The National Weather Service issued heat advisories for a large swath of the East Coast through much of the weekend.

Heat advisories were in effect for a large portion of the East Coast from central Florida to Virginia through much of the weekend.

Around 100 million people are under heat alerts Friday, from coastal Maine to South Carolina and across much of the Midwest and lower Ohio Valley into the Mid-South. Additional alerts are likely in the Southeast as temperatures rise in coming days.

Hot and humid Sunday and Monday, as highs could make a run toward 90°. Storms possible Sunday night to early Monday AM

A stretch of dangerous heat is building across central Alabama, prompting Days Monday through Wednesday of next week. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s, but it’s the oppressive humidity that will push heat index values between 110 and 112 degrees each afternoon.

The heat, combined with the high moisture content, is causing the heat index values to reach up to 107 degrees on Saturday afternoon.

A Heat Advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday, July 26, due to dangerous heat. High temperatures will reach the mid-90s, which is typical for this time of the year.
