The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department will be opening five cooling centers June 24, two days after an NWS extreme heat watch begins.

Extreme heat warnings are in effect in Hampton Roads, prompting cities to open cooling centers across the region.

With extreme heat remaining in place across the Pittsburgh region through at least Wednesday, several cooling centers have opened to give residents a place to escape the dangerous temperatures.
