Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum says Google Maps should use 'Gulf of America' only for the portions of the Gulf that lie within US territory.

Mexico has sued Google for adopting the name “Gulf of America” for users of Google Maps in the United States, President Claudia Sheinbaum said, making good on an earlier threat to take legal action against the tech company over the name change.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced Friday that her government is suing Google for relabeling the Gulf of Mexico as “Gulf of America” for US users, CBS News reports. The company had done so in Google Maps after President Trump ordered the name change at the beginning of his Presidential term.
