A CSX freight train derailed early Friday morning in south Fulton County, and officials say it briefly disrupted rail traffic but no injuries or danger to the surrounding community was reported.
NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — Amtrak service to parts of Virginia has been canceled after a CSX freight train carrying coal derailed in rural New Kent County on Saturday afternoon, according to officials.
The good news is that this does not impact any passenger rail service or traffic.
The derailment has caused significant traffic disruptions. Route 3 is closed in both directions near Tonnelle Avenue, while Tonnelle Avenue itself remains open in both directions, authorities said.
