Today brings news of a streaming DAC from McIntosh ( recently acquired by Bose ). Ordinarily, I would strip the press release back to bare essentials to present the DS200 in my own words. However, a shoulder injury continues to make typing painful so what follows is McIntosh’s press release copied/pasted word-for-word BUT with all the marketing fluff – as I see it – struck through.

So what about this quality that McIntosh promises? Inside is a quad balanced 8-channel, 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) which McIntosh claims delivers a "huge dynamic range and low distortion", aiming to deliver "superior sound reproduction" from your digital music library.

At the core of the streamer is McIntosh’s next-generation quad balanced 8-channel, 32-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Depending on the input you use, it can decode PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz, native DSD up to DSD512, and DXD up to 384kHz.
