A winter storm is in the forecast for portions of Alabama this weekend, and winter storm watches have been issued for the northern part of the state.

A winter storm watch has been issued for East Tennessee.

It was triggered by the forecast of heavy mixed precipitation including widespread snow, sleet and freezing rain which could result in “moderate to major impacts in infrastructure and transportation.”
