Mississippi is set to carry out its 20th execution by lethal injection as Richard Jordan, who's sat on death row for 48 years, faces death this week.

The Unites States Supreme Court did not give an explanation in saying would not hear the execution appeal of Richard Jordan of Mississippi.

With just two days until his scheduled execution, Richard Gerald Jordan’s legal options appear to be running out. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court denied a petition submitted by the state’s longest-serving death row inmate back in March.
