After another rough first inning from Jake Irvin put the Nationals in a quick three-run hole, Paul DeJong, one of those reinforcements, hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning, a blast to right-center that proved to be the catalyst for an 11-7 win over the Detroit Tigers.

James Wood had five hits that included his 23rd home run, Paul DeJong added a three-run blast and the Washington Nationals hung on to defeat the Detroit Tigers 11-7 on Thursday night, taking the rubber game of the series.

Wood is the third Nationals player to take part in the Derby, joining Juan Soto (2022) and Bryce Harper (2013 and '18).
