A severe storm in Marion County dropped a tornado early Monday morning. The 16 WAPT weather team caught the confirmed tornado on radar as it moved out of east Marion and into Lamar County. A survey team with the National Weather Service in Jackson determined that it was a high-end EF-2 tornado with winds of up to 135 mph.

Amid a high-end tornado outbreak, the first one hit the area around 1:39 p.m. central time. Then at 2:20 p.m., an EF2 tornado hit the same spot.

A deadly severe outbreak spawned at least one tornado in 14 states from March 14-16. Hardest hit were Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi and Missouri.
