NATCHEZ, Miss. (WLBT) - Greg Iles, Natchez resident and New York Times Bestselling author, has died at the age of 65.

"Mississippi Blood," the concluding novel by Greg Iles in a trilogy featuring lawyer Penn Cage, is part fast-paced crime thriller and part tense-but-tedious courtroom drama.

Mississippi Blood is Iles’ 18th USA TODAY best seller; he first hit the list in 1995 with Black Cross, which peaked at No. 43. He is on a book tour that concludes April 20 in San Antonio, Texas.

Greg Iles will conclude his Natchez Burning Trilogy in March 2017 with Mississippi Blood, which sees Penn Cage fighting to exonerate his father, Tom — who doesn't want an ounce of his son's help.

Greg Iles was battling multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer, when he passed away at 65 on August 15, around 5 a.m.
