Floridians are being warned to prepare for a colossal dust cloud from the Sahara Desert that's expected to arrive in days, as per radar reports. The huge dust phenomenon struck Puerto Rico and the U.

It is typical for dust to move across the Atlantic every year in early summer, WKMG reports. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says it is called the Saharan Air Layer, which is "a mass of very dry, dusty air that forms over the Sahara Desert during the late spring, summer and early fall."

Dust particles lower the air quality, which can bring breathing difficulty for people with respiratory illnesses like asthma.

The first, smaller plume will reach South Florida on Saturday. The second will engulf the state starting on June 4.
