Ben McCollum continues to bring some important pieces from Drake over to Iowa City now that he's head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

IOWA CITY — Drake transfer Kael Combs has committed to Iowa basketball, following head coach Ben McCollum to the Hawkeye program. Iowa will be the third stop of Combs's college career. The 6-foot-4 guard started at Wyoming before transferring to Drake. He will join the Hawkeyes with two seasons of college eligibility remaining.

The move from Drake to Iowa for Hawkeyes men’s basketball head coach Ben McCollum not only brought excitement for Iowa fans, but a handful of new players making the move as well. Three Drake players have already pleged to Iowa,

Cam Manyawu and Kael Combs, both part of McCollum’s rotation on his Missouri Valley Conferece-championship team, are becoming Hawkeyes.

Iowa men’s basketball secured its second commitment of the day in former Drake center Cam Manyawu, he announced on social media. With his commitment, head coach Ben McCollum has now brought three players with him from Des Moines to Iowa City.

As the Iowa basketball program reforms its roster ahead of Ben McCollum's first year, the Hawkeyes have added four-star transfer portal forward Cam Manyawu to the roster as he rejoins McCollum after playing one season at Drake.

Drake basketball added a new piece to the program on Wednesday. Braden Appelhans announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on social media. The 6-foot-7 guard comes to Drake after three seasons at New Mexico.
