The Cardinals' fading playoff hopes took another hit as the team placed All-Star second baseman Brendan Donovan on the IL.

And unfortunately, according to an announcement from the Cardinals, Arenado isn't alone on the injured list. Brendan Donovan is being placed on the injured list, retroactive to August 15th, with a left groin strain.

The All-Star infielder has missed games recently with left groin tightness and is also dealing with a toe injury.
