New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez and second baseman Jeff McNeil could be activated when the team starts a road trip Friday at Washington. Alvarez fractured the hamate bone in his left hand during batting practice on March 8 and had surgery two days later.

Starting catcher Francisco Alvarez and starting infielder Jeff McNeil are expected to be activated from the injured list and join the New York Mets for their weekend road trip beginning Friday, MLB.com reported.

McNeil (oblique) has been playing center and second base during his rehab assignment. Coming into Wednesday, the 2022 NL batting champ has hit .375 with a 1.111 OPS with two RBI and two home runs in Low-A, Double-A and Triple-A. Alvarez (hamate surgery) is hitting .200 with one home run and three RBI.
