Streaming service Max is yet again changing its name, but users will be familiar with the new branding: HBO Max.

During Wednesday's upfront presentation, Warner Bros. Discovery announced Max will be rebranded as HBO Max starting this summer.

"It’s not TV, it’s HBO Max ... again," at a presentation that goes hard on executive talking points and largely ignores the studio's recent film successes.

Discovery’s streaming platform has undergone a bit of an identity crisis as the company revealed during their Upfront presentation in New York City on Wednesday (May 14) that their streamer Max would return to its former name,

HBO Max became simply Max in 2023. Now Warner Bros. Discovery is going back to basics and reclaiming a brand long associated with high-quality programming.

WBD CEO David Zaslav announced the move, with the company declaring, "no consumer today is saying they want more content, but better content."

Somehow… HBO Max has returned, with Warner Bros announcing that the Max streaming service will return to its original name.
